On Friday we had our lock-down drill. We pretended a circus was in town and a lion had escaped! We closed the curtains, locked the door and got away from the windows. We decided that the safest place for us was in Mrs Newports cupboard.

Fitness
Every morning we do Fitness with the Junior Syndicate. We focus on a different skill each day. Mondays is running, Tuesday is ball skills, Wednesday is Jump Jam and Thursdays is Skipping. On Friday we usually play a game that uses one or more of the skills we have been working on over the week. Here we are developing our balls skills.

House competition - Biggest leaf pile
On Friday, the whole Junior Syndicate had a competition to see which house could make the biggest leaf pile. We had 5 minutes to collect as many leaves as we could and pile them up higher than the other houses. It was VERY close...but there could only be one winner...and that was Forest!
We then got to throw the leaves up over ourselves (and the teachers!). We had so much fun playing in the leaves!
Buddy reading
On Thursday we did Buddy reading with some students from A4. We love getting the chance to read our stories to other children and also enjoy hearing their stories too.

More shape work
As we continued to learn about shapes, we explored how we can use them. Our task was to create a picture using the shapes we were given.
We thought about what we could use as eyes to complete our person.
Squares were placed along each side of the hexagon to create a flower.
We then had to say what shapes we had used for different parts of our picture.
The next day, we had a challenge! We had to use PVA glue to hold piece of string into place, to create shapes. This was very frustrating because the glue was slippery whilst is was drying, so the string kept moving - we had to be very patient!

Play in the classroom
When we play in the classroom we develop the key competencies (Managing self; Participating and Contributing; Using language, symbols and texts; Relating to others and Thinking) and our social skills. We also make connections to curriculum areas and lead what we are doing.
The green is nature, the blue is water, the red is fire and the yellow is the sun.
Thinking about what they want to make and how they will create it.
To play this game we had to roll the dice and count the number of spaces we moved.
Looking to see what was available. We had to think about what we needed to use and how we would use it to create what we wanted.
We also love to be a bit silly sometimes!
